Behind our house in Delhi is a protected national park, frequented by peacocks. One very daring peacock would regularly come for a stroll towards the edge of the park...and we would wait every evening with bated breaths to see this wonder of nature. His unhurried, royal stance, his arched dancer's neck, his magnificent crown...and of course his iridescent tail feathers...a joy to witness, we would be mesmerised by his highness' visit...
